Arrival at Entebbe International Airport – Welcome to the Pearl of Africa

Your safari begins when you land at Entebbe International Airport, the gateway to Uganda. A friendly and professional guide from Africa Gorilla Encounter Ltd receives you with a warm welcome and a detailed briefing about your upcoming gorilla trekking adventure. After loading your luggage into the safari vehicle, you are transferred to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala for rest.

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Journey into the Gorilla Highlands

After an early breakfast, your driver-guide from Africa Gorilla Encounter picks you up for the road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The drive takes 8–9 hours but is filled with incredible scenery and cultural encounters.

One of the most memorable stops is at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe. Here, you can take iconic photos, perform the water experiment, and enjoy a cup of Ugandan coffee. Travel continues through rolling hills, farmlands, cattle ranches, and banana plantations. Lunch will be served in Mbarara or at Igongo Cultural Centre before proceeding into the high-altitude Kigezi region, famously referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.”

Arrive in Bwindi by late afternoon. The cool mountain air, lush vegetation, and distant calls of forest birds welcome you into this ancient rainforest. After check-in, enjoy a hot shower, dinner, and a relaxing evening at your lodge.

Gorilla Trekking Experience – A Once-in-a-Lifetime Adventure

This is the highlight of your Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari. After an early breakfast, your guide transfers you to the Bwindi Park Headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will learn gorilla behavior, trekking rules, and safety procedures. After being assigned a gorilla family group, you begin your trek into the dense rainforest.

The trek can last anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Bwindi’s terrain is rugged and misty, but the exhilaration of tracking these gentle giants keeps your spirit alive. Along the way, you may encounter forest antelopes, unique bird species, butterflies, and primates like black-and-white colobus monkeys.

Once you find the gorilla family, you are allowed one magical hour in their presence. Watch the juveniles play, mothers groom their young, and the mighty silverback oversee his family. The emotional connection and rare closeness to these endangered creatures form the core of your adventure.

After the trek, you return to your lodge for a hearty lunch and relaxation. The rest of the afternoon can be spent on optional activities such as:

Day 4: Return to Entebbe – Departure

After breakfast, begin the scenic return journey to Entebbe. Lunch is served en route, and your guide ensures you reach the airport in time for your international flight.
